Was craving Spanish food. I found Otono's close to my place (and had seen it around), so off we went. We arrived around 7:40pm on a Sunday night, and while the tables were full, there were still plenty of space at the bar. Service was great, expedient (so maybe it depends on the night?). We admittedly trawled yelp before going, so we had a game plan for what we were going to get. Can confirm the pan con tomate (as many reviewers have said, it is fantastic) croquetas de jamon (REALLY good, inhaled these) were as amazing as the reviews say, and we got some olives (decent, a few different kinds of olives, nothing to really write home about). Then we got the Paella Negra with rice. This was just ok. The paella had a nice crispy bottom that you had to scrape off the pan, with nice big chunks of scallop (just three), three slivers of chorizo, and some dollops of cream something or other. Other reviewers have said that the paella is light. While it may be a personal preference thing, we didn't find it so - I found it a bit heavy, and left me with a bit of an icky feeling, but if you are looking for something heavy, this could help. I think we would be back, if only to try the Paella Mariscos. And for the pan con tomate again. Overall, a decent experience, and thought the price was reasonable as well. (From April 15, 2019)

Super cute Spanish place over in Highland Park, definitely good if you enjoy tapas or paella. There is both indoor and outdoor seating (pet friendly outdoors) and they've got a really nice happy hour as well. There are local lots and street parking nearby. The waitstaff is really helpful and patient when explaining the menu to you.

A friend and I went to Otoño on a Friday at 6:30pm. It wasn't too busy and while they do not have a designated parking lot, there was a lot metered street parking. Be sure to read the signs. The inside is narrow and cozy with a bar up front and a few tables in back. Due to the size I would keep groups to a max of 4. We ordered a plethora of items starting with the Pan Con Tomate ($10), Churros De Patatas Bravas ($15), Baquerones Y Mantaquilla ($19), and the Negra Paella ($40). The Pan Con Tomate was a great way to start. The focaccia was light and fluffy while the tomatoes and and garlic gave it a delicious, fresh, flavor. Churros De Patatas Bravas we already knew we liked having tried them at a food event. They were just a yummy fresh out of the kitchen. Taking a normally sweet dish and making it savory only adds to the fun. Baquerones Y Mantaquilla was reminiscent of my time in Spain which is fitting as it is listed under their Tapas section. Salty, briney, and perfectly sharable. Negra Paella was lovely to look at and the flavor was solid. The chorizo paired with scallops gave a nice balance to the dish. These are large so we definitely has left overs.

I could have kept eating the paella forever! We chose to try the squid ink paella (which they're known for) and it was a great choice, would need to come back for the seafood paella (which I saw at the next table and looked delicious) but you can't go wrong with either. They also have some good sangria so that was great. Cute date spot with delicious food and great service! Parking can be hit or miss but street parking is definitely available.
